During winters as most of the water sources are frozen due to low temperature drinking water is a very big concern for locals. there are only few hand pumps providing clean water.
When it snows in spiti it is very heavy. During that time locals stay indoor and spend time in knitting and making local handicrafts.

Apart from storing wood and food for cattle's, local prepare dry toilets which can be used in winters to save water.
