Dayara Bugyal is a year-round destination, each season offering a distinct experience:

Avoid the Monsoon Season (July and August) due to slippery trails and continuous rain, although the meadows are at their greenest during this time.

The starting point (base camp) for the Dayara Bugyal trek is typically Raithal or Barsu village in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

1. Reach Dehradun (Gateway City):

• By Air: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport (DED), Dehradun. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Dehradun city or directly towards the base camp.
• By Train: The nearest major railway station is Dehradun Railway Station. It is well-connected to major Indian cities like Delhi and Kolkata.
• By Road: Dehradun is easily accessible by bus and taxi from Delhi and other nearby cities.

2. Dehradun to Base Camp (Raithal/Barsu):

• Road Journey: The base villages of Raithal or Barsu are approximately 180-195 km from Dehradun, and the drive takes about 7-9 hours.
• Mode of Transport:
  • Shared/Private Taxi: The most convenient option, especially if booked through a trekking organizer.
  • Local Bus: Take a bus from Dehradun to Uttarkashi (about 6 hours). From Uttarkashi, local taxis or shared cabs are available for the final stretch to Raithal or Barsu (about 1-2 hours).

The drive itself is incredibly scenic, passing through winding mountain roads, dense forests, and glimpses of the Bhagirathi River. Arriving at the base village, you’ll feel the immediate calm of mountain life before beginning your glorious walk towards the Dayara Bugyal.
