Reaching Zanskar is a journey in itself and requires careful planning, as the region remains cut off for several months due to heavy snowfall.

• By Air: The nearest airport is Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh. From Leh, you need to travel by road to Zanskar, which is a long journey with a halt in Kargil.
• By Road: The most common and convenient way to reach Zanskar is by road. The journey is typically done in two parts:
  • Leh to Kargil: This leg of the journey takes you through stunning landscapes and famous sites.
  • Kargil to Padum (Zanskar): The road from Kargil to Padum is a challenging but spectacular drive. It passes through the beautiful Suru Valley and over the Pensi La Pass. It is advisable to hire a taxi from Kargil as taxis from Leh or Srinagar may not be allowed to travel all the way to Padum due to local taxi union regulations.

Best Time to Visit: The road to Zanskar is accessible only from June to September. During this period, the weather is pleasant, and the landscapes are at their most vibrant. The valley becomes a white wonderland during winter, accessible only through the famous Chadar Trek.
