Reaching Khajjiar in winter can be a bit of a challenge due to potential road closures from heavy snowfall.

• By Air: The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport (Kangra), about 120 km away. However, flights can be unreliable in winter due to fog and weather conditions. A better option is Pathankot Airport, which is around 118 km away and is better connected. From the airport, you’ll need to hire a taxi.
• By Train: The nearest railway station is Pathankot, which is well-connected to major Indian cities. From the station, you can hire a taxi to Khajjiar.
• By Road:
  • From Dalhousie: Khajjiar is about 22 km from Dalhousie. While there’s a shorter route, it often gets closed in winter due to heavy snow. The alternate route via Chamba is longer but is often kept open.
  • From Pathankot: The journey takes around 4-5 hours. Taxis are the most reliable option during winter.
  • Buses: HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) buses operate on this route, but their service can be affected by weather conditions.

Winter Travel Advisory: Always check the weather forecast and road conditions before you begin your journey. Carry plenty of warm clothing, including thermal wear, woolens, and waterproof jackets and boots. Be prepared for potential travel delays due to snow.
